Andis Wines in California’s Sierra Foothills was founded by two former Hawaii residents, Andy Friedlander  and Janis Akuna. After long careers in real estate and finance in Hawaii, they moved to Amador County and established the winery in 2010 The winery’s name is a portmanteau of their first names, “Andy” and “Janis”. They own the winery together and are still actively involved in its operation Andy Friedlander spent 50 years in Hawaii, where he co-founded the state’s largest commercial real estate company.
